Meet Your Group X Instructors

Lisa Tankanow

I have been a Mad Dogg certified Spinning Instructor since August 2015 and have always taught at Mike’s Fitness. Spinning was always a key component in my fitness routine and became even more important when I suffered a knee injury. I decided to become certified and teach because I craved the high energy and cardio high from the workout. I enjoy the fast-paced nature of the workout and even though you are part of a bigger class, it’s really about you and the bike. One of my favorite parts about teaching Spin is putting together playlists that create fun and challenging rides. There’s nothing better than seeing people singing a lot or really vibing to a song while they are in class.

Jim West

Jim West is a seasoned group fitness instructor with over 25 years of experience teaching in the Boston metro area. He has led classes at well-known fitness centers including Metropolitan Health Club, Boston Athletic Club, Fit Core, Mike’s Gym, and Mike’s Fitness. Certified through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, Jim began teaching High and Low impact aerobics before expanding into Step Classes, where he created the advanced “Double Trouble” program using dual step platforms. He also completed the Johnny G Cycle program through Schwinn and has managed group exercise programs at both Mike’s Gym in the South End and Mike’s Fitness in Jamaica Plain, bringing strong leadership and long-standing expertise to the group fitness community.

Jess Willis

Jess received her yoga teacher training in Denver, CO, with a focus on the foundations of Vinyasa yoga, yogic philosophy, alignment, and subtle body anatomy. As a writer and creative, Jess blends both the physical and emotional, encouraging her students to dive deeper beyond their physical asana practice.

Nancy Deleon

Welcome! I’m Nancy, and I believe fitness should be the most fun hour of your week. My journey began in 2009 when my love of music and dance led me to Zumba®, and it was love at first beat. Certified in 2010, I’ve been leading high-energy, welcoming classes ever since, focusing not just on steps but on creating an experience for everybody and every body. My goal is simple: to help you fall in love with movement in a judgment-free space where you can build strength, shake off stress, and feel part of a vibrant, supportive community.
